BAZE UNIVERSITY

Baze aims to provide university education to British standards in Nigeria at about half the cost of sending a student to study abroad.

Currently, no Nigerian University is rated in the top 5,000 in the world. Many Nigerians thus feel compelled to send their sons and daughters to be educated abroad, at substantial cost (at least $28,000 per year for tuition, travel and living expenses). Baze delivers the same quality of education and living at $ 14,000 (N2.2 m) – and, at a critical stage of their lives, students will be staying closer to their families. Baze opened officially on 4th April, 2011.

      Tuition

The Fee for Tuition is N1.5 m a year. Places cannot be guaranteed until fees are paid.

The tuition fee covers everything a student requires in the University, except accommodation and other living expenses.

      Accommodation

Students can either use accommodation provided by the University, live at home, or arrange their own accommodation.

In the first year, all accommodation provided by the University will be in off-campus blocks. Students will have the option of being housed in either one-person, two-person or four-person rooms, some rooms having shared en-suite bathrooms. Kitchens and any lounge areas will be shared. The cost will depend on the number of students sharing, and the nature of the facilities, but the average is expected to be around N440,000 per year. Regular shuttle buses will run between the hostels and the University.

      Meals

Students are free to make their own arrangements over meals. If students have provided their own accommodation, this may include cooking facilities. University accommodation which includes a kitchen provides the option for preparing meals. Students living at home will probably want to share family meals.

Otherwise, there will be a range of options for taking meals in the cafes in the Social Area of the Campus. For the periods of the year when the University is in session, students should be able to purchase three modest meals a day for around N300,000.
